G’day
To all my readers who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of my seventh novel, La Belle Suisse, and may suspect the authors have taken an extended sabbatical, I can only offer in our defence: no news is good news. But be assured we are still hard at work to bring you a quality product, teetering on the cliff edge of becoming an epic, while the manuscript bounces back and forward from Australia to Switzerland.
La Belle Suisse has been a journey into a wonderland of cultural richness, flowing streams, and mountainous adventure; added to that, the refreshing exacting accuracy of the French Swiss and their purposeful ideology – to get it right! I have enjoyed working alongside Dodie and learning of her people’s endearing, albeit petite, diverse nation. Don’t be fooled by the poetry and gentleness of phrase encompassed in the lullaby of their speech. They are very determined in what they say and do and if you are deliberate in bending the peace, you might find yourself on the Italian side of the Swiss fence… permanently! Never to be invited back in!
Sadly, one of the greatest disappointments of my journey with Dodie has been the Gotthard Tunnel project. It is possibly one of the quintessential engineering feats of the twenty-first century, drilling and building a high speed rail tunnel many kilometres under the Alps and over fifty kilometres long. With the clockwork accuracy of the Swiss and their determined mindset, the tunnel took seventeen years to complete… on time and on budget and as usual, the environment appears undisturbed. It did have a major role to play in La Belle Suisse, and I couldn’t understand why, when I tried to find its place within the story, the Holy Spirit had gently erased it and made it impossible for the pieces to fit… until I watched the opening ceremony – clearly a satanic ritual – giving the finished glory to satan via the ungodly EU. If you are aware of Switzerland’s Godly heritage, this disgusting act was a betrayal of the gentle and sometimes retiring Swiss people. Having said that, Christian people and values are under attack all over the world; and to have an overt evil ceremony in one of the last bastions of Christianity is a sobering reminder to the unseen battle raging all around us.
For every child of Jesus who may feel overwhelmed by the intensity of the world’s stage and be tempted to feel they have climbed aboard a sinking ship, I challenge you to think like the prophet Elisha, comforting his servant when a carnal army poised on the outskirts of their little village, surrounding the man of God with intent on his annihilation. “Open his eyes, Lord!” the unconcerned mighty man prayed, and soon the servant could see the encompassing angel armies about to kick butt!
Open your eyes and see… He who is within us, is greater than he who is in the world!
We as human individuals can do nothing to change the world and the evil push to drown us in sewerage; but Papa God gave you, as a Christian, an atomic bomb in the form of prayer to change the direction of the unseen war and affect the battle raging. But if you feel defeated and won’t even try to fire your weapon of prayer, then you are a coward in the face of battle. You don’t have to accept the Evil One’s plans to destroy you; and in fact, Papa gave you the final page in the battle’s chronicle to tell you, without a doubt… HE WINS! The Bible says 365 times, take courage! The Evil One and his cronies are due for judgement, and when our Warrior King comes back… He won’t be happy!

Hi Jack, thanks for the encouragement to maintain the faith! The darkness can feel overwhelming sometimes – even ‘though we know how it will turn out in the end. I think of that scripture in Matt 24:12, “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold…” and I find that I get disheartened with the increase of wickedness in our great nation, but then the rest of the verse says, “..but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” I have never heard before that the bible says 365 times, “take courage” – that’s one time for every day of the year, so God certainly knows that weaklings like me need a daily reminder to be not afraid! We serve an awesome God … thanks for the reminder.
